Serendipity hopes to make it easier for people to find their perfect match by using their cellphones. The Serendipity uses the Bluetooth radio system built into many mobile phones. Bluetooth transceivers allow phones, computers and gadgets to talk to each other within a 10-yard-wide bubble. The system "sniffs out" other Bluetooth phones every 30 seconds. If it finds one, it contacts the database to see if the owner is a good match.

"Toothing" is a new craze where strangers on trains, buses, in bars and even supermarkets hook up for illicit meetings using messages sent via the latest in phone technology.    The respectable person sitting next to you on the train fumbling with their cell phone might be a "toother" looking for sex with a stranger.
