| The ocean for me is a calming and peaceful part of my life I cherish dearly. I own a 41 foot sailboat based inb Marina Del Rey. I also fly a Cessna 172 and find that relaxing as well. This may sound counterintuitive but flying is like sailing but in 3 rather than 2 dimensions.
I was born in upstate NY and moved to California by way of Arizona. Spent 5 years in the Army during the Vietnam War. In the late 80's, I took a job in China and lived there for three(3) years and then moved to Singapore. I travel quite extensively overseas (Asia and Europe) about 40% of the year. I am 5'7", 165 lbs, average to athletic build. I work out 1-3 times per week but I'm not a fanatic about it. A bit more description would include the fact I have been told many times I look like Stephen Spielberg. I keep my hair short, have a goatee, no tattoos and just one pierced body part, my left ear, not because someonme told me it was cool but because I've rounded Cape Horn and any sailor that does pierces his ear.
I consider myself a bit of a rebel and individualist. I enjoy going to unusual places. I went to Anatartica 1 1/2 years ago as a volunteer on a resupply vessel (I had to pay for the pleasure of working with the reasearch naturalists talking census of the humpback, pilot and killer whales....it was great fun). I back-packed thru Tuscany last fall and am going to the Peruvian Amazon and Machu Pichcu in October. I know this probably sounds like BS but honest.....I'm telling the truth. I am a very adventursome person...hope this doesn't frighten you.
I enjoy good food and wine, theater, old movies, fireplaces and long walks on the beach. I prefer my own company to crowds and quiet evenings. I have two left feet so dancing has always been somewhat of an embarrasment for me. I love to read, especially non-fiction, and nature TV programs.
