| When I was 11 I dug a foxhole under the house near a grate which provided enough sunlight to read by. I read Moby Dick in the foxhole that summer. I also made a lot of decisions about how my life was going to be. Almost everything turned out just like I hoped it would -- almost. I became an actor and, later, a radio personality. I was always a writer and a sexual deviate.
Now, at 53, I own a small forest with a lovely house in a clearing at its center. My old car is paid for and my bills are small. My son's college is paid for and my ex-wife is comfortable. I, however, am broke and lonely, but determined to live the last chapter of my life as a novelist.
