| AMONG THE CLOUDS
Upon the hill sit I, my thoughts at rest, simply to partake of the sunset and think not of what lay behind,
As the sun tints the towering clouds many shades of crimson, a sweeping panorama greets my eye,
What marvels are there by trick of the eye and imagination unbounded?
Seascapes to Camelot, the range has no limit, Broadway to the Painted Desert,
Each is there for the eye that sees, each an answer to a quest, and yet questions more,
Who peoples these far flunged visas, and what afoot, epic battles, or dances of the Maypole?
Tis easy to slip away from my cares and wander among these marvelous clouds full of brave hopes,
Of my mind's joy they may be, but real they are, for if I can see them, touch is sure to follow,
How these songs of images, beautiful, great and small, came to be, are they just me, or more?
Would be so easy to slide into these dreams without substance, but tantalizing real all the same,
Waltzes at the Imperial Ball with Ladies and Hussars, Nantucket sleight rides with salt and tar,
Can you see, can you feel, can you hear, can you smell, can you taste, all these gifts of the mind?
If you can not, but wish, then take my hand, lay thy gentle head upon my shoulder, and I will share with thee,
If you can perceive, then I shall take thine hand, and lay my weary head upon thine shoulder, and I will share with thee
JAY 2002, My thoughts upon a hill, after a weary day.
A bit of a dreamer, writer and inventor, amateur archeologist marine, retired major, poet, single parent of 12 and 15 year kids.
I have a farm and life that while full, is in many ways empty.
I am either a simple guy in a complex world, or a complex guy in a simple world.
I am looking for my best friend and companion, a sharer of heart and pillow. Come as you are, let treasure the truth of each other, |
